Mary: A Vessel Chosen // 12DOC day 4

Mary held the light of the world in her hands; He was her baby, but at the same time, her King.
It was hard to accept sometimes, but she knew that Jesus wasn't hers—He was there to save the world...she was just the chosen vessel. The servant on whom God had shown favor.

Mary was chosen by the hand of God.
The Potter had chosen His clay.

From the moment she was born, God started preparing her for this purpose.
The Potter makes His vessels, even if the clay doesn't understand.

Mary was not perfect, but she fit into God's plan far better than she would ever realize.
"For we know all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." -Romans 8:28

But even if the vessels don't consent to the Potter's hand, His ways are perfect, and He will win out in the end. The vessels can't help but fit into the plan of the Potter, even if they themselves are full of air pockets.
(Air pockets show up in clay when it is cut in half. They can be produced when pieces of clay are put together. If they remain in the clay, they can mess the vessel up.)
Even if people don't follow God, He can use them in His plan.

So there she was—a vessel chosen to carry the King of Kings.
And she did so with courage.
Let's follow Mary's example and say yes to God's calling, carrying it out with courage.

Each of us are called to carry the fruits of the Holy Spirit to people (love, joy, peace, etc.), and each of us are called for a different reason; but sadly, not all follow His will.
"For many are called, but few are chosen."
-Matthew 22:14

Each story—each vessel—is beautifully different.
The Potter calls. Will you respond to Him and be one of the Chosen?

Blessings and Merry Christmas!

Quoting the Quoted

Change your thoughts and you change your world. - Norman Vincent Peale

His thoughts are higher than our thoughts(see Isaiah 55:8-9).
Once you are thinking right, you can act right.
It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light. - Aristotle
Not my picture, click for source.
We need to give our focus to God—to seeking Him & His will in your life and in every moment—for that is when things can change.
PRAISE & WORSHIP Him in your dark moments. It works.

We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us. - Joseph Campbell

Be blessed and remember that God has your life in His hands, and He is the best caretaker. His plans are better than yours. Surrendering your life continually to God is like saying, "Here, God. I want to live for you the best life I can." It is an act of trust. And that is what we need—trust in God.
Don't worry, nothing and no one can take God away from you.

Have a great day, and may God bless you all out of His great goodness and loving kindness.
Let Him lead you in the way everlasting(see Psalm 139:24).

Thanks be to God for Friends. ☺

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."
John 11:25

Some good things in my life:
I got to get together with two friends recently whom I hadn't seen for a while, and also, one of my dear friends is moving closer to me. Yay!

I am glad that God gave us friends. I think that He knows we need them sometimes—especially when they build us up. ☺

Have a great day!

If I Can't Live Without God...

Here is some of a journal entry I wrote in September, with some edits and changes:

"Read: Psalms 47-48.
(Me talking:) Let us praise God with a shout, and with our singing. Let us think on His mercies—His loving kindness—more.
I can't live without Him. And if I can't live without God, I need to draw closer to God. Because if I draw closer to Him, He will draw closer to me; and I want that."
-------------------------------------------------------------------

James 4:8 (ESV) says, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hand, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."

We need to stop looking at our problems, have child-like faith, and seek Jesus—and not just seek Him, but try to find Him.

Have a wonderful day, and I pray right now that you and everyone in contact with you (and has been & will be) will follow God and draw closer to Him everyday...amen.

Chai Tea & God's Atonement

Welcome!
I enjoy drinking hot tea, including chai tea.
Two kinds of chai I like are Bigelow Vanilla Chai Black Tea Blend, and Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice. Both you can probably find at Walmart for less than $5 a box—at least around here.
Do you like Chai tea?
What is one of your favorite kinds of tea? Where do you normally get it?

"Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust, and does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which you have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered."
- Psalm 40:4-5

The Lord does not require us to make atonement for our sin (the next verse goes on to say, "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire"), because Jesus already died for us, taking care of it all.
We need to ask for forgiveness from God, and accept His redemption as enough to wipe out our sin.

"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
-2 Chronicles 7:14

Have a blessed day!

Prayer Request

I ask for prayer for my family.

God is good, and He upholds the verse Romans 8:28, which states, "And we know that all things work together for good to them who love God, to them who are called according to His purpose."

Thanks, and God bless you and your family.

Made for Something More...

We, as Christians in this crazy world, were made for something MORE than what is the "norm". We were made to be different, and we were made to stand out.
We are called to serve God.
We are called to love our neighbors.
We are called.
Be one of the chosen, by accepting this calling.

"For many are called, but few are chosen."
Matthew 22:14

A Friend like Paige!

I am thankful that God has given me friends who share my passions and have helped create and encourage them.
Like Paige.
So, I know Paige because she is a friend of a friend, and now my friend. :)
She has a blog, and you can visit it here: Paiges Pages.

She is a great godly girl with a big heart, which includes a space for Africa, and medical missions.  Actually, Paige has partly initiated my interest in both Africa and medical missions. :)

She has a BIG heart for children, and a bigger heart for our Lord!

I am happy I have a friend like Paige.
God bless you, Paige, and may He cause your hand to succeed!

It's Me.

Who am I?

I am a girl. A woman of God.

I am an artist. I like to draw, paint, doodle, dream, and more.

I am a dreamer. I have big plans, but really, I need to learn to give my plans to God, because my perfectionism is not always God's plan. God is a Potter, and making pottery is not a spic and span clean process.

I am clay. God's my Potter, so I don't have to worry about what I'll look like when I am done. It'll be beautiful. Just wait, it'll be the same with you, if you give Him everything. I'm trying, though I don't always, and I need to DO more, more than just TRY [I need to GIVE] CONTINUALLY, MY HANDS, AND MY LIFE--all to God.

I am a person who likes clay, and making stuff out of it...I really enjoy it...not necessarily the finished project, but the process. :)
I am overjoyed at times from hearing peoples' stories and testimonies—and of miracles.

I am learning the love of Christ, even if it is slow at times.

I like to walk in nature. Especially my big back yard, where I have prayed to Jesus many a time, found peace, and just enjoyed God's creation. And that's one place where I believe I have felt beauty the most. Yes, felt beauty.

I am a girl, wanting to stay pure for my future husband, wherever he is right now. Whether I know him now or not, I want to be pure for him, God, and me; and I want him to be pure for me and for God. One thing that is hard for my flesh self to accept sometimes is that if I want certain things in my future husband, I should be following those same standards, and not expect things of him without giving up those things, and saving those things, too. And I want to truly apply that principle to my life.

I think I like getting paint on my hands; and I like how it comes off normally when you wash it. :)

I love music.

I like taking pictures, and photography.

I like flowers. Wildflowers, purposefully grown flowers, & all flowers.

I am amazed at God's plans.

I love God.

I am glad that I have a voice, and that God has given me a voice with my writing, and that He has great things in store, even if it isn't writing.

I want to serve God and help people. I want to provide medical assistance, and help. I want to be useful and productive in meeting people's needs...physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I would like to travel, and go on missions...including medical missions. Some places I want to go are Africa, Germany, Italy with my dad, India, Israel, Afghanistan, the Philippians, Sweden, a lot of places in Europe, especially that were involved in WWII, and maybe Romania.
And I would like to go to the Samoa Islands with a lady I know who grew up there. I want to pay for her way someday, and see around the island where she lived and where her family now is today.

I want to encourage.

I want to be a vessel of God's love.

I care about America, and our military, and people trying to help us get back in the right.

I like to type.

I am glad I am God's.

I love sign language.

I like being part of my Bible Study.

History is something that fascinates me--or at least parts of it. :)

It's me. And there's so much more!
I've been here all along, ever since God formed me. And I've been planned since before the beginning of time. You have been, too. So go out into all the world, and tell them about our Savior—our savior. ☺

Also, did you notice that the first picture is imperfect? It's not how we planned it, yet, it is a good picture. Just not in the traditional way.
It's okay to be different, and not traditionally perfect like people, or even ourselves, want us to be, as long as we are following God in our lives.
Besides, sometimes God leads us in extraordinarily different paths...well, He always does. It's just we don't always listen. :) We need to, though, and follow Him for it's better anyway, and better for us in a lot of ways.

Now. That I have told you some things about myself, what do you want to hear more about?

Clearing the Slate & Updates

Hello, friends. I know I haven't posted much, but I am still alive! :)
I would appreciate it (mainly if your a reader of my blog) if you stuck around for this post, so I can fill you in on some things.

I would like to clear all promises of posts, series, genres of posts, etc. that I have made on this blog. A clear slate is what I want.

I had said I wanted to reply to all reply-able comments, and visit the websites/blogs of the commentors. Well, now, while I may reply to some, and decide to visit some sites/blogs, I am canceling that promise.  I hope you understand.

I am not going to finish The 12 Cultures of Christmas, even though I planned to eventually. I may, however, publish some of the posts I had been working on at times, but I don't know. No promises. :)

I am not changing my blog name for this blog anymore now. I may in the future, but I am leaving it alone for now. Plus, I am even thinking about starting over completely. But, nothing is definite, and I don't know when that would happen exactly if ever, but hopefully someday.

I may not ever pick Verse of the Week up again, though I don't know.

And, if there is anything else I've said I'll do, I am just going to take it back right now and start new with a clean slate.

I hope you understand. Blogging has not been my biggest priority right now, but I am still continuing the blog, and not really stopping it now, I just haven't posted.

So now that we have that out of the way, I'll let you know something about my life.

My mom is battling cancer right now. I haven't read much. I got some new flip flops at Old Navy (best quality normal flip flops I know about). I have found interesting stuff in the book of Ecclesiastes, and this is only a day/season in my life--the life that God planned.

God planned you, too.

Have a great day, and God bless you and all you know and have known and ever will know!

Eucharisteo Blessings // #1-7

I'm back! After about two months, I know. It's crazy.
But let's get to the post.

Have you wondered yet? What the word Eucharisteo means?
Well, let me share.

My mom and I watched two video sessions of One Thousand Gifts, which I highly recommend, and there we see the idea of writing down 1,000 blessings—gifts, and found the word Eucharisteo. So that is what I am going to share with you: some of my gifts, through pictures. If I end up writing a list on paper, it will probably look different, but I am just sharing some of my blessings  through my pictures.

"When He was at the table with them, He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them."
-Luke 24:30

1. Honeysuckle. I have smelled it even before I saw it—it is beautifully fragrant.

2. Coon Creek—little streams. We have a ditch in front of our house(not a normal ditch), and it has trees around it. It is dry most of the time, but then, when we have a lot of rain, and we have—we've had flooding(we are fine, but please pray for everyone effected by this big flood in MO, KS, AR, OK, etc.) it turns into a stream, and it's really nice. This is a picture of it above.

3. Zippers. :)

4. Our dog, Penny.

5. My parents.

6. Our flower box.

7. :) The pancakes that I ate for breakfast.

There will be more of these posts.
Blessings to you, and please remember that there are  blessings all around you already. :)

My Life // It's Okay Because He's Everywhere.

So many things are changing around me.
Where am I going?
I don't have to know—God is ever constant—never changing.

I hear so many calls, yet don't know which is my call.
Where am I going?
I don't have to know—God calls me—and that's all I really need.

I have so many things I like...it's hard.
But it's okay, because God will use my talents and gifts to honor Him, if I let Him.

I feel like I am everywhere.
But it's okay, because God is everywhere.

But this might just be my mountain. The one that I need to go around, or go through.
Or move.
I want direction. But maybe I just need to follow my Guide—God.

I feel in the dark on some things, and in the light on others. But no matter what--I know God is with me, and that is all I need.

I don't know where I am going. But I am closer than close with the one who does know.
And I need to just let go.
Let HIM take control, not me.
Surrender and trust.
That's what I need.
That's what we need.
That's what you need.

I STILL HAVE HOPE.
Why?
Because I have Jesus.
Because I have the Word of God.
Because I have my relationship with God.

You need these things, too.

This is how you get them:

Romans 10:9-10
"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

And open up the Bible. God will give you revelation if you ask Him and seek Him.

Isaiah 1:18
"'Come now, let us settle the matter,' says the Lord.
'Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool.'"

Love in Christ,
Amy

All of these pictures were wonderfully used from the free picture website, Unsplash. Of course, I edited the last one, though.

"I Want to be Like a Tree"

Today I am just going to share with you some BVs(Bible Verses), a song, and the lyrics to that song.

Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)
"Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither--whatever they do prospers."

Jeremiah 17:8 (NIV)
"They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and it never fails to bear fruit."

Yes, I want to be like a tree.

Here are the lyrics to the song, "Tree" by Justin Rizzo:

"Unmovable, unshakable
Let my roots go down deep
Unmovable, unshakable
In You

I want to be like a tree
Planted by the streams
Of living water

This will be my song God
This will be my prayer
Until the end, until the end
In the midst of the coming storm
In the midst of the coming blessing
That my life, would be built upon the rock
That I would not be shaken
That I would not be moved"

Yes.

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ"
(Eph. 1:2),

Wishing for a Valentine? Got One?

Edited a little in 2019, but not much.

Wishing for a Valentine? Got one? Listen up, y'all. :)
Well, believe it or not, you have One who is asking to be your Valentine.
Do you know who I am talking about?
No, it's not your school/church crush, it's not that cashier at Walmart, and it's not the teller at the bank.

It's God...straight up! :P

So sure, this might seem classic for a Christian to say. But no matter how much you commercialize it, how much you say it, how much you try to share it, it will ALWAYS be true, even after this world has passed away.

He wants to be your love. Your first, truest, sincerest lover, and #1 love.
This doesn't necessarily mean your first love as in He was the first one you loved ever, but instead your "first in your life" love. [The one you put above all others.] You love Him more than A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G.—even life itself. Sounds radical, right?

That's crazy love—in a good way.

Are you willing to take the challenge and let God be your #1 love?

This love, however, does not stop being celebrated after today, Valentine's Day, but should be reflected upon and rejoiced in everyday for the rest of your days--eternity!

And get this. He has already decided on you to be His Valentine, even if you choose not to be back.
Isaiah 43:1 says (and this is God speaking):
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine."
See! Right there: "You are Mine"! 😋 I know that this may not be the context they meant it in, but God still chooses us. So even if you don't answer Him back, God loves you deeply, and has already chosen you. Will you accept Him? If so, don't wait 'til later. Do it now, and step into His intimate love.
"This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent us His son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."
1 John 4:10 (NIV)

So how do you do this? How do you accept Him? And also, how do you become His child, and receive salvation? How do you become saved?

Ask Jesus into your heart, to be the Lord and savior of your life, and to be your one true love. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and that God has raised Him from the dead after He died for our sins on the cross.
If you're already a Christian, you can still do this!
Ask God to help you let Him be your first lover.

And whether you have a Valentine this year or not, you still can receive and allow this True, Forever Valentine in your life! His love will never pass away.

And don't forget! He sacrificed His life for you--'cuz He loves you! He always has, and always will. HE CREATED YOU TO LOVE!

Wanting a love letter?
The Bible is your answer.
There is a lot of good verses in there, supporting the truth that God loves you!
Isaiah 43: 1-7 is a good one, and so many others, especially in the New Testament.

Wanting a love song?
HE INVITES YOU AND WANTS YOU, PRINCESS/PRINCE!

MORE SCRIPTURES ON LOVE:
1 Corinthians 13
1 John
Isaiah 43
Romans 5:8
& try Googling verses about love, and you can probably find lots more!

And before you go...I want you to watch this video, a testimony to God's love.
Because this is the truth: we have to go to God, yes, and follow Him, but ultimately this life is NOT ABOUT US. It is about God. We have to surrender. Let Him be our Valentine, FOREVER, but no, it ultimately is not about us. It's about God. And He loves us, and goes unimaginable lengths to show us.

So hang in there, and watch this testimony--it's amazing!

Let's take the challenge of making God our #1 love!

The Bible says: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind" (Luke 10:27).

Not only should He be your first love, but He NEEDS to be your first love.

God bless you all!
